FAAC keypad and intercom repair in Orlando typically runs $195 – $385 installed, depending on whether we’re replacing the keypad face, the intercom board, or the entire entry station. We stock FAAC-compatible keypads and intercom components on our trucks, so most repairs happen the same day we show up. The way Orlando owners usually discover this failure is simple: the keypad has dead buttons or the intercom still buzzes but the voice audio is gone, and suddenly Amazon drivers, landscapers, and guests can’t reach anyone inside the house.
Before you keep pressing the same button harder (we’ve all done it), know this: exposed keypads and intercoms in Florida take a beating. Sun, afternoon thunderstorms, and humidity are relentless on outdoor electronics. The good news is that FAAC entry stations are modular. That means we rarely replace the whole unit. Usually it’s one failed component, and the repair is straightforward.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
We stock and repair entry stations for FAAC’s most common residential and light-commercial gate opener series in Orlando: the 400 series (models like the 402 and 422), the 412, the 415, the FAAC E024U, and the newer E-Series boards paired with XP series keypads and intercoms. Most of what we see on Orlando gates is an FAAC 412 or 415 paired with an FAAC RP-1 or XP-28 keypad, or a wired intercom station like the FAAC 404 or the older Digi-Key style units.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people miss: FAAC doesn’t make it obvious which keypad talks to which board. A keypad off an FAAC 402 will not always communicate correctly with an FAAC 415 board, even if the plug looks identical. FAAC changed communication protocols between some board revisions, and no YouTube video is going to flag that before you’ve bought the wrong part. When you call us, we ask you to open the gate box and read us the model number off the silver FAAC label on the circuit board, not the number on the keypad. That label is the only reliable way to match the right entry component.
On OEM versus aftermarket: for FAAC keypads, we generally recommend OEM or direct FAAC-compatible replacements because aftermarket units often lack proper weather sealing for Florida humidity. For intercom boards and handsets, quality aftermarket equivalents can work fine if they’re matched to the correct FAAC revision, and we’ll tell you honestly when the aftermarket option is safe for your setup and when it isn’t. We are an independent service provider, not an FAAC distributor, so we stock the version that’s right for your gate, not the one a manufacturer wants us to push.

Signs Your FAAC Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
- Dead buttons or keys that need three hard presses. This is usually a worn membrane or corroded contact inside the keypad face. Florida humidity creeps into the seam between the keypad housing and the plate, and over three or four Orlando summers, the contacts corrode until a press doesn’t register. This is the most common repair we do.
- The intercom rings inside but there’s no audio, or audio only works one way. The intercom board’s audio amplifier or the speaker driver has failed. Lightning strikes during Orlando’s summer storms are a frequent culprit here, and the failure can happen even on a gate that was working fine that morning.
- Keypad works but the gate doesn’t move. If a code beeps and the gate ignores it, the keypad may be sending a signal the main board no longer accepts. This can be a blown relay on the intercom/keypad control board, or a protocol mismatch if someone installed a used keypad recently. Either way, it’s a wiring or board-level check.
- Intermittent operation that clears up when you wiggle the wiring. A loose or corroded wire at the terminal block, usually where the keypad cable enters the gate box. Orlando’s heat causes the wire insulation to stiffen and the terminal screws to back out slightly, creating an intermittent connection.
- Keypad display is black or the backlight flickers. This points to a failing voltage regulator on the keypad or intercom board, which is a board-level repair. On FAAC units, this often starts after repeated power surges from Central Florida thunderstorms, and it will usually kill the whole station within a few weeks if left alone.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what honest FAAC keypad and intercom repair pricing looks like in Orlando. The parts themselves are one number, but the labor changes depending on whether we’re swapping a faceplate or tracing a wiring fault back through the conduit.
- Keypad faceplate or button panel replacement: $195 – $275 installed
- Intercom board repair or speaker replacement: $245 – $325 installed
- Full entry station replacement (keypad + intercom + housing): $325 – $385 installed
- Wiring or terminal repair at the gate box (no parts): $125 – $195
Every one of those numbers is quoted to you in writing before we touch anything, and the number on the invoice is the number you agreed to. That’s part of how we operate at Calder Gate Repair: a written price before any work starts, always. The repair also carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing, so if the keypad or intercom fails within a year for the same reason we repaired it, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a safe DIY step here, and then there’s a boundary we’d rather you not cross. The safe step is confirming power to the gate and checking whether the keypad lights up at all. If the whole station is dark, check the breaker and the gate’s transformer before assuming the keypad failed. That five-minute check can save you a service call.
The boundary is any repair that involves opening the gate control box and working with terminal wiring, board-level diagnostics, or testing a live intercom circuit. These circuits run low voltage in most cases, but the gate box also contains the high-voltage feed for the opener motor, and one misplaced wire can turn a $200 keypad fix into a $600 board replacement. We’ve had to repair more than one DIY wiring job where someone crossed a 24V intercom wire with a 120V feed. If you’re in Orlando and want this done correctly and safely, call us at (850) 338-6230 and we’ll give you a straight answer on the phone.
FAQs
In Orlando’s humidity, a well-installed FAAC keypad typically lasts 5 – 8 years before the membrane or contacts start failing; intercom boards last 7 – 10 years barring lightning damage. Units facing direct afternoon sun on west-facing gates tend to fail on the shorter end of that range because UV breaks down the keypad’s rubber membrane. Call (850) 338-6230 if your unit is in that window and starting to act up, and we’ll tell you over the phone what’s likely failing.
Yes, in many cases we can repair the keypad rather than replacing it, especially if the issue is corroded contacts, a loose wire, or a failing button membrane that can be cleaned and resealed. If water has entered the keypad housing and damaged the circuit traces, replacement is usually the honest call because a water-damaged board will fail again. Call us for an assessment and we’ll give you the cheaper option when it’s a real option.
A straightforward keypad or intercom board swap takes about 60 – 90 minutes on site once we’ve confirmed the right part. If the fault is in the wiring run between the house and the gate, that can add an hour while we trace and repair the line. Most Orlando repair jobs are done the same day we arrive because we carry the common FAAC components on the truck.
We keep the most common FAAC keypad faces, intercom boards, and entry station housings on our trucks serving Orlando and nearby areas, so there’s no week-long wait for a part to ship. If your FAAC model needs a less common component, we can usually source it within 2 – 3 days and schedule around that. Call (850) 338-6230 with your FAAC board’s model number and we’ll confirm what we have on hand before you book.
