We stock, fabricate, and install BFT-compatible welded gate components across Orlando, with most bracket, hinge, and frame repairs running $185 – $520 installed depending on the part and the amount of fabrication required. If your BFT gate has a cracked weld, a sheared hinge, or a bent frame member, we can usually have a technician in front of it same-day or next-day. Most Orlando owners discover the problem the hard way: the gate starts dragging on one corner, or the opener strains audibly and trips its obstruction sensor, or a weld finally snaps and the leaf sags into the driveway.
Here’s the thing about BFT gates in Central Florida: the electronics are usually fine. What fails first is the steel around them. Heat, afternoon thunderstorms, and irrigation overspray put real stress on welded joints, and once a weld cracks near a hinge or actuator mount, the opener fights a losing battle every cycle. That’s where welding and fabrication knowledge matters as much as knowing the opener itself.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
Most of the BFT welding and fabrication work we do in Orlando involves slide gates on the DEIMOS BT A400/A600 and GIOTTO BT A25/A30 lines, plus swing gates built around the PHOBOS BT A25/A40 and ICARO series openers. The opener model matters less than the physical gate it’s bolted to. A GIOTTO rack-mount slide gate has very different fabrication needs than a PHOBOS articulated-arm swing gate.
The compatibility gotcha we see constantly: BFT hinge and bracket bolt patterns changed between the older BT A-series and the current BT UL series. The actuator mounting plates look nearly identical, but the hole spacing is off by roughly 8mm on some models, and forcing them to fit is how you end up with a cracked bracket two months later. Measure the center-to-center distance between mounting bolts before ordering anything. If you’re replacing a failed custom bracket, we fabricate a new one to match your existing holes rather than drilling new holes in the gate frame. For most Orlando residential jobs, quality aftermarket steel components work as well as OEM for hinge plates and frame reinforcement, but we recommend OEM BFT actuator brackets when the opener itself mounts directly to the part. The tolerances there are too tight to gamble on.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate scrapes or drags on one side. A sagging leaf usually means a hinge weld or hinge bolt has started to fail. The opener keeps pushing, but the gate is now fighting friction on the concrete, which burns out motors fast.
- The opener trips its obstruction sensor mid-cycle. When a weld near the actuator mount flexes, the gate’s resistance spikes briefly and the BFT control board reads it as an obstruction. It’s not a sensor problem; it’s the steel flexing behind the sensor.
- You see rust-colored streaks or cracks at a joint. A hairline crack at a weld lets moisture in, and Florida humidity does the rest. The streaks are literally the steel bleeding. By the time you see them, the weld is already compromised.
- The gate wobbles side-to-side when pushed by hand. A bit of play at the hinge post is normal; a gate leaf that moves a half-inch or more at the latch end means a structural weld or the post itself has loosened.
- The opener sounds strained or labored. If your BFT motor suddenly sounds like it’s working twice as hard, it is. A bad hinge or a cracked frame member adds mechanical load, and the opener pays for it every single cycle.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For BFT welding and fabrication work in Orlando, here’s what we quote, in writing, before the first weld:
- Cracked weld re-weld (single joint): $185 – $280 – includes grinding out the old weld, re-welding, and a quick structural check of adjacent joints.
- Hinge replacement (per hinge, material + install): $220 – $390 – price depends on whether we fabricate to match existing holes or use a stocked BFT-compatible hinge.
- Custom bracket fabrication (actuator mount, rack bracket): $240 – $420 – measured, cut, drilled, welded, and painted to match your gate.
- Gate frame reinforcement (cracked or sagging frame member): $300 – $520 – includes steel plate or angle reinforcement, welding, and alignment check.
- Full fabrication project (new gate frame, custom design): $800 – $2,500+ – quoted per job after we measure in person.
Parts and labor are separate line items on our invoice, and the number you agree to at the door is the number you pay. No surprises after the work is done. Every weld repair and fabrication job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within 365 days, we return and fix it at no charge. That’s not a verbal promise; it’s in writing on the work order.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s our honest split. You can safely check whether a hinge is loose by pushing the gate back and forth and watching the joint. You can photograph a cracked weld and note where the crack starts and stops. You can check whether the gate is dragging by pouring water on the driveway and watching where it pools under the gate.
What you shouldn’t do is grind out and re-weld a joint on a gate that weighs several hundred pounds while it’s still hanging. Welding near an installed BFT opener also risks frying the control board with stray current unless the opener is properly disconnected first. We’ve repaired enough DIY welding attempts in the Dr. Phillips area to know that a $60 flux-core welder from the hardware store does not produce the same weld as a 220V MIG setup in trained hands. If the weld fails because of poor penetration or the board gets toasted, you’re paying twice. Call (850) 338-6230 instead and get a written price before we start.
FAQs
A quality weld on a properly prepped BFT gate frame lasts 10 – 15 years in Central Florida if the metal was cleaned and painted after welding. Bare or poorly painted welds near irrigation overspray can start failing in 3 – 5 years. The weld itself doesn’t typically fail; the steel next to it rusts and weakens first. Call (850) 338-6230 and we’ll assess whether your welds need attention or just a fresh coat of paint.
Most cracked welds can be ground out and re-welded without replacing the part, as long as the surrounding steel is still sound. If the crack has rusted through or the metal around it is thin, replacement is the honest answer. We’ll tell you which one applies before we do anything, and you’ll have the price in writing first.
Most single-joint weld repairs and hinge replacements take 1 – 2 hours on site, including prep, welding, cooling, and paint. Custom bracket fabrication usually adds a day because we cut and drill the new piece in our shop before bringing it to your Orlando property.
We stock common BFT-compatible hinge plates, actuator brackets, and rack brackets on our service vehicles, plus steel plate and angle for reinforcement work. For odd-sized custom fabrications, we measure on the first visit and return with the finished piece, usually within one business day. Call (850) 338-6230 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether your part is on the truck today.
