We stock, weld, and install FAAC-compatible gate hardware across Orlando, and most welding and fabrication repairs run between $250 and $850 installed, depending on whether we’re reinforcing a cracked hinge, rebuilding a gate frame, or fabricating a custom bracket. Same-day assessment is available when you call before noon, and we carry common FAAC mounting plates, hinge weldments, and reinforcement stock on the truck. The part that usually brings Orlando owners to us isn’t the opener itself; it’s the metal around it that finally gave out after years of Florida humidity and daily open-close cycles.
Most people discover the problem the same way: the gate starts sagging, then dragging, then the opener burns itself out trying to push a gate that no longer sits square. By the time the FAAC board throws a force error, the welding has usually been failing quietly for months. Sometimes it’s a hairline crack along a weld in the top hinge. Sometimes the entire post bracket has pulled away from the concrete. Either way, welding and fabrication is what actually fixes the problem, not just the symptom.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
FAAC uses cast aluminum housings and steel mounting hardware across most of its swing-gate lineup, and the welding points that fail are consistent across models. If you own a 390, 400, 412, 415, 750, 770, or the newer S418 and S450H series, you’re looking at the same vulnerable spots: the hinge weldment where the piston mounts to the gate leaf, the post bracket that holds the opener body, and for slide gates, the guide roller brackets that keep the gate tracking straight. The opener internals differ between models, but the steel and aluminum around them is what we’re welding.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see regularly in Orlando: the S418 and S450H use a slightly different hole pattern on the gate mounting bracket than the older 400-series parts. If you order a bracket online by “FAAC swing gate bracket” without checking the hole spacing, you’ll end up with something that doesn’t line up. Measure center-to-center between the bolt holes before you buy anything. It should be 82mm on the S-series and 70mm on the older 400-series. We keep both patterns on hand.
When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket for FAAC, we’re pragmatic. FAAC’s own brackets and weldments are well made, and for anything safety-critical like the gate hinge itself, we prefer OEM or a quality machined equivalent. For non-structural pieces like standoff brackets or guide roller plates, a properly fabricated aftermarket part welded by someone who knows gates is often more durable than the original, especially in Orlando’s salt-air neighborhoods like Dr. Phillips or Windermere. We’ll always explain which way we’d go and why before cutting or welding anything.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags visibly at the latch end. This almost always means a hinge weld has cracked or the post bracket has pulled loose from the wall or column. The opener keeps working, but every cycle is putting more stress on the remaining welds until something lets go completely.
- You hear a grinding or popping when the gate moves. A worn guide roller or cracked roller bracket makes the gate ride unevenly on its track. The popping is usually the sound of a cracked weld flexing open and closed under load.
- The opener trips a force error or stops mid-cycle. FAAC control boards monitor force, and when the gate requires more effort to move, the board assumes there’s an obstruction. Often the obstruction is the gate itself, dragging because the metal around the opener has shifted.
- You can see rust bleeding from a weld joint. Surface rust is cosmetic. Rust weeping from inside a weld means the joint is compromised and moisture has gotten into the crack. In Orlando’s humidity, that crack grows faster than you’d think.
- The gate bounces or shudders when it closes. That’s a sign the gate leaf isn’t attached to the hinge line solidly anymore. It’s flexing against a failing weld, and every shudder is working the crack wider. If you wait too long, the gate can drop onto the opener piston and bend it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what we quote in Orlando for FAAC welding and fabrication work, parts included:
- Hinge reinforcement or weld repair (single hinge): $250 – $400
- Post bracket replacement and welding: $300 – $550
- Full gate frame repair with reinforcement plate: $500 – $850
- Custom bracket or standoff fabrication: $200 – $450
The spread comes down to access, material thickness, and whether the gate needs to come off its hinges to do the work properly. A top hinge buried inside a stone column in College Park takes longer than an exposed bracket on a chain-link gate in Oviedo. Every quote includes removal of the failed part, surface prep, welding or fabrication, and a test cycle with your FAAC opener to confirm it runs clean. You get a written price before we strike the first arc, and that number doesn’t change at the door. That’s the Relay Standard, and it’s how Nico Alvarez has run every job since day one.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can safely check yourself: look for visible cracks in the welds around the hinges, push gently on the gate to see if the post bracket moves, and note where the rust is worst. That helps you describe the problem accurately when you call. What you shouldn’t do is attempt a weld repair yourself. Gate hinges and post brackets are under constant tension, and a failed weld on a 300-pound gate can snap without warning. Grinding the old weld down and laying a bead is the easy part; knowing how to brace the gate, align it, and weld a joint that will hold in Florida weather is the part that takes years. If you’re unsure, call (850) 338-6230 and we’ll talk you through what we see on a quick video call.
FAQs
We typically see original FAAC weldments hold up for 8 to 12 years in Orlando, with gates closer to open water or busy roads failing on the shorter end due to salt air and vibration. Aftermarket or repair welds done properly often outlast the originals because we use heavier stock and better moisture protection.
Most cracks can be welded if they’re caught before the metal around the crack fatigues too far. The decision really comes down to how much of the surrounding steel is still sound. We’ll often add a reinforcement gusset so the repaired hinge is stronger than it was when it shipped from the FAAC factory.
Most single-hinge weld repairs and bracket replacements are done in 2 to 3 hours on site. Full gate frame repairs take 4 to 6 hours, and if we need to fabricate a custom part back at the shop, we’ll usually have it ready within one business day. We’ll give you a precise time before we start.
We carry FAAC-compatible hinge weldments, post brackets, guide roller plates, and steel stock for common 400-series and S-series models on the truck, along with pattern-matched aftermarket brackets. If your gate needs something unusual, we fabricate it in our shop and return to install it within one business day in most of the Orlando metro.
If your FAAC gate is sagging, popping, or tripping force errors, call (850) 338-6230 for a free estimate. Nico Alvarez will pick up, ask the right questions, and get you a written price before anything gets welded. If we can’t explain the problem in plain English, we don’t get to charge you for it. That’s a Calder rule.
